Full-time Patrol Officer – Under limited supervision, this position performs a variety of law enforcement functions, such as routine patrol, criminal investigations (both initial and ongoing) involving state and local laws and ordinances, and traffic law enforcement. Through the enforcement of laws and ordinances, we achieve the protection of life and property. Special assignments may be received that call upon specialized abilities and knowledge usually acquired through experience, training, or education.

Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent training at a technical or vocational school with a focus on Law Enforcement.
  • A valid full-time Peace Officer License issued by the Minnesota Police Officers Standards and Training Board (POST).  We will also consider candidates who are not yet licensed by POST but are scheduled to take the POST exam on June 15, 2017.
  • First Aid and CPR knowledge.
  • A valid Minnesota driver’s license.

No previous police experience is required.

The hiring process includes a medical, psychological, and drug screening.

The starting pay for this position is $56,808 per year, depending on qualifications. The current maximum salary for this position is $71,010. Seasonal Park Employee: The City of Waseca is seeking a seasonal Parks employee. The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain equipment and provide maintenance services in City facilities, parks, and property, and to perform other duties as assigned. Applicants must be age 16 or older and possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license.

The pay range is $9.50-$13.00, depending on qualifications.

Firefighters – Paid On-Call, Part-Time

Minimum qualifications:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license
  • Ability to respond to fires and other emergencies and live within 10 minutes of the Waseca Fire Station

Preferred qualifications:

  • Basic 1403 Firefighting training (required by OSHA)
  • MN Dept. of Health First Responder training
  • Previous firefighting experience
  • First Aid/CPR certified
